Belonging by Design: Stories of Pathways, Practices and Responsibility
In this multi-voice panel on the National Day of WIL, students, community partners, and practitioners reflect on how identity, power, and belonging shape work-integrated learning experiences.
Panelists will speak to the realities of Islamophobia, queer and trans advocacy, and the ongoing work of decolonizing practice, alongside the everyday barriers students encounter in job search and placement environments. Drawing on lived experience and practice-based insight, the conversation centers voices from across the WIL ecosystem.
Together, we will ask what it would mean to take these stories seriously. If belonging in WIL is shaped by systems as much as by individuals, what are we prepared to change? This dialogue invites us to reflect on how we share responsibility for the environments we create.
