Student Engagement in WIL - September 2026

Module #2 - Student Engagement in Work-Integrated Learning

Please note: Completion of Module 1: Foundations of Work-Integrated Learning is required before enrolling in this course.

Student learning is at the heart of work-integrated learning. Creating meaningful WIL experiences requires more than connecting students with opportunities: it requires intentional support, thoughtful reflection, inclusive practices, and a deep understanding of how learning happens in workplace and community settings.

Student Engagement in Work-Integrated Learning is the second course in CEWIL Canada's Certified WIL Practitioner Program and explores how students learn through WIL and how practitioners can create environments that support learning, belonging, reflection, and success.

Participants will join a national community of WIL practitioners to explore evidence-informed approaches to student engagement, learn from colleagues working in a variety of contexts, and reflect on their own approaches to supporting learners before, during, and after WIL experiences.

Topics Include

  • The Learning of Work-Integrated Learning
  • Supporting Students Before, During, and After WIL Experiences
  • Reflection and Meaning-Making
  • Assessing Learning in WIL
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Access (EDIA) in Student Engagement
  • Universal Design and Inclusive Practice
