Module #3 - Partner Engagement in Work-Integrated Learning

Please note: Completion of Module 1: Foundations of Work-Integrated Learning is required before enrolling in this course.

High-quality work-integrated learning depends on strong, mutually beneficial relationships with employers, community organizations, and other partners. Building and sustaining these relationships requires intentional engagement, ethical practice, clear communication, and an understanding of the needs and goals of all parties involved. 

Partner Engagement in Work-Integrated Learning is the third course in CEWIL Canada's Certified WIL Practitioner Program and explores strategies for developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships that support meaningful outcomes. 

Participants will join a national community of WIL practitioners to explore effective approaches to partner engagement, learn from colleagues working in a variety of contexts, and reflect on their own practices for building sustainable and impactful relationships.

  • Building and Sustaining WIL Partnerships 
  • Engaging Employers and Community Partners Before, During, and After WIL Experiences 
  • Relationship-Centred Approaches to Partner Engagement 
  • Understanding Partner Needs, Motivations, and Outcomes 
  • Ethical Considerations in Partner Engagement 
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Access (EDIA) in Partnership Development 
  • Communication, Stewardship, and Long-Term Relationship Building 
  • Balancing the Needs of Students, Partners, and Institutions 

Assessment - Participants demonstrate their learning through a combination of: 

  • Knowledge checks and quizzes 
  • Reflective practice activities 
  • Discussion forum participation 
  • Engagement in virtual live workshops

Course Dates: Ferbuary 1, 2027 – May 31, 2027 

Please note: Participants may request a one-time deferral for a $75 fee, provided the request is submitted at least 30 days before the course end date. A full refund is available up to the end of the first week of the course; after that time, registrations may be deferred once or transferred to another individual. Exceptions may be considered for medical emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances with supporting documentation.
