The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC)

ICTC’s WIL Digital is an innovative Work Integrated Learning program that helps employers grow their business by providing financial assistance for hiring post-secondary students into meaningful work-integrated learning opportunities. ICTC’s WIL Digital wage subsidy program is funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program and is available for employers hiring an eligible student as an employee in a position relevant to the digital economy.

Partnership Opportunity:A partnership process for employers that would like to hire multiple roles over more than one semester is available. To find out more, please contact your regional outreach coordinator.

WIL Digital subsidies are offered to eligible companies and not-for-profit organizations across Canada to hire full-time or part-time students for full-time or part-time work placements within the Digital Economy to provide them with opportunities to gain work experience and skills while contributing to their employers growth.

Requirements for Students:

  • Be registered full-time or part-time in a Program within a publicly funded Canadian post-secondary institution, regardless of age
  • Have Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident or Refugee Status
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Provide proof of Enrollment/ registration

Wage Subsidies:

  • Subsidies of

    • 50% of the student’s salary, up to $5,000; or
    • 70% of the student’s salary, up to $7,000, if the student falls within one of the following under-represented groups: Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Indigenous students, recent immigrants, students with disabilities, and first-year students.

Does the employer need to have a candidate before applying?

No – The student needs to be selected before the application can be fully approved, but an employer can start their application and save their progress at any time.
