The Student of the Year Award, College & CEGEP Co-op, has been awarded to Eidah Jauforally, a recent graduate of the Business Administration – Accounting Co-op program at Sheridan College.
Eidah’s Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) experience as an Assurance Associate Co-op at PwC in the winter of 2024 was a transformative period of professional and personal growth. She actively contributed to audit engagements by conducting audit procedures, analyzing key financial data, and collaborating with risk management and operations teams. Her technical expertise in tools like Excel, Aura, Bloomberg, and Alteryx played a crucial role in delivering high-quality work, earning recognition from her managers.
Beyond her core responsibilities, Eidah demonstrated leadership by representing PwC at CPA Discovery Day, where she engaged with students and professionals, sharing insights about the firm and inspiring aspiring accountants. She also took the initiative to expand her network within PwC by collaborating with remote teams from India, gaining a deeper understanding of diverse working styles and fostering cross-cultural teamwork. Additionally, she actively participated in PwC’s Muslim Inclusive Network (MIN), organizing events during Ramadan to promote cultural awareness and inclusivity within the organization.
Eidah’s impact extended beyond PwC, as she played a pivotal role in promoting WIL at Sheridan College. As President of the Sheridan Accounting Student Association (SASA), she revitalized the club, strengthened relationships with the Big Four accounting firms, and provided students with valuable networking opportunities. She also served as a CPA Ontario Board of Ambassadors representative, further advocating for WIL and CPA programs at Sheridan through mentorship and engaging initiatives such as networking events and campus-wide CPA awareness campaigns.
Eidah’s journey reflects the power of WIL in fostering professional confidence, technical expertise, and leadership skills. Her passion for mentorship, cultural inclusivity, and community engagement has left a lasting impact on both PwC and Sheridan College. Now embarking on a full-time role in the accounting industry, Eidah remains committed to supporting and inspiring future students as they navigate their own career paths. Elle a également pris l'initiative d’étendre son réseau au sein de PwC en collaborant avec des équipes à distance en Inde, découvrant ainsi de nouveaux styles de travail et favorisant le travail d’équipe interculturel. De plus, elle a activement participé au réseau d'inclusion musulmane de PwC (MIN), en organisant des événements pendant le Ramadan pour promouvoir la sensibilisation à la culture et à l'inclusivité au sein de l'organisation.
L’impact d'Eidah a dépassé PwC, car elle a joué un rôle clé dans la promotion de l'AIT au sein de Sheridan College. En tant que présidente de la Sheridan Accounting Student Association (SASA), elle a revitalisé le club, renforcé les relations avec les grandes entreprises comptables et fourni aux personnes étudiantes de précieuses opportunités de réseautage.
