Message from the CEWIL Accreditation Council

The Accreditation Council remains supportive of post-secondary institutions that adopted the temporary accreditation standard adjustments implemented from March 2020 to April 2021 to accommodate both students and employers needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Accreditation Council also continues to encourage institutions with accredited co-op programs to uphold established quality standards as a critical component in the provision and delivery of quality co-op programming across Canada.  Effective May 1, 2021, the Accreditation Council will return to its standard practice as intended albeit under the health and safety guidelines governing each institution’s respective jurisdiction.  The Council will, however, support continued flexibility for institutions who need, on an exceptional basis, to make adjustments to their co-op program requirements, content and delivery.  An institution’s CEWIL accreditation status will not be jeopardized by those exceptional adjustments. This position of the Accreditation Council will be reviewed regularly and revised as necessary as determined by the evolving status of the pandemic.
